"I'm Ricky Bobby, if you don't like fish tacos then *****"
I've said it before - but sadly, New York just doesn't have the best Mexican food. However, places like Los Tacos No. 1 or Tacos Los Mariscos are here to save the days ridden by relentless taco cravings... and I say they're just good tacos, period.
Many know of Los Tacos No. 1 as they have several locations around the city, but what fewer people know is that their sister restaurant, Los Mariscos, is inconspicuously located in Chelsea market. You really have to look for this place (you either walk by the small door on 15th Street or you follow the narrow winding hallway near Los Tacos No. 1), but it's worth a little sleuthing to find.
Once you do find it, your food choices will be pretty straightforward. Basically fish or shrimp tacos, and some ceviche / chips and salsa options. My go to is the fish tacos, but everything we've had here is pretty good. One of my favorite parts is actually the way they decorated the restaurant. It's a small space, but aside from that it feels like you're nowhere near New York. Think aesthetic fish market with some soccer games or the Telemundo channel on TV behind the bar - it's pretty much a portal to another country.
My only complaint on this place is sometimes the line can move a little slow, but the food has never let me down, especially when I need some late night tacos or don't want to dig too deep into the pockets for dinner.
