I can taste this picture
I've said this before, but Pike Place Market has all the indications that it's a tourist trap. Lots of little restaurants selling the 'catch of the day', street vendors selling little trinkets that seem like a good idea on vacation but then you take them home and never see them again... you get the picture. But the crazy thing is, all the food we've tried here was really good. Pike Place Chowder might seem like the type of place to have a 'world famous' sign outside just to get the meandering tourist to give it a shot, but as someone who isn't a big fan of clam chowder, I love it here.
The menu has a few different types of chowders, but I'd highly recommend going with the New England Clam Chowder Bread Bowl, or a smaller cup of the Clam Chowder if you're making this just one stop on a food tour through the market. They also have lobster rolls and that sort of thing, but I don't think those are anything special.
If you see a line here - and the chances are good that you will - don't be discouraged, it moves fast. If you're at Pike Place, I'd seriously recommend making a stop here, especially when it's a colder, overcast Seattle day.
